The present St. Peter's Protestant Church was once a Catholic Church. When Cromwell came to Drogheda all the prople ran to this church for safety. He burned down the wooden steeple and killed every man woman and child that was in it. When the Protestants were re-building and cleaning it they removed the holy water font from the entrance. To their surprise the following morning the font was inside the door again. They put it outside the door many times but with the same result.
