A Famous Horse Doctor of the Witch Type [duchas:5004557]

Mr Boggan has this story from the man (Mr Middleton) who owned the horse that was cured.
This horse doctor never went by any other name than the Fairy man.
It was said that he could cure horses and other animals "from any distance" without actually seeing or treating them.
The example is of a young man named John Middleton of Ballinure who had a horst that had many lumps on it. He was advised to go to this fairy man and tell his troubles. He did so, and when he met this Fairy man, he was

asked by him, how many lumps the horse had and what part of the animal were they. Middleton told him there were seven.
Well said the Fairy man, go home and you will find his seven lumps are gone. There were really 8 lumps on the animal so when Middleton did go home he found 7 lumps gone but the one still remained that he hadn't told of. "Believe it or not" but this is the story as told by Mr Boggan and Mr McCreary who both had it first hand from Mr Middleton
