In present study, thermal degradation kinetics of tobacco farm waste was examined by means of a thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and its corresponding derivative thermogravimetric analysis (DTG) under nitrogen atmosphere at different heating rates of 5, 10, 15 and 20 °C /min from 25 °C to 1000°C. The TGA curve indicated that the pyrolysis process of tobacco included three stages and main pyrolysis occurred in the second stage. Hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin degradation occurred during pyrolysis in a temperature range between 165 - 570°C. The kinetic parameters, such as activation energy, preexponential factor and reaction order were determined by applying the CoatsRedfern (CR) method. Also, the activation energy was calculated using various degradation models including Kissinger, Friedman (FR), FlynnWallOzawa (FWO) and KissingerAkahiraSunose (KAS). The average activation energy of tobacco was calculated to be 150.40, 230.76, 216.97 and 218.56 kJ/mol by Kissinger, FR, FWO and KAS models respectively.
