Contained within a letter to Marsh which offers Edward Marsh consolations over the death of his friend the poet Rupert Brooke / describes sleeping through a barrage but being awoken by a lark / objections to new attachment system in the army, which has separated Robert Graves from his original battalion / apologises for the quality of the poetry and having sent it to Marsh / tells Marsh that he will be moving up the trenches closer to the German lines shortly.
