This a copy of the letter, and transcription, sent by the Parish Minister from his home in Bonhill, Dunbartonshire, to Pte David Murie. This letter would appear to have been sent to all the men from Bonhill who were serving in France.
Editor's Comment:
The letter is addressed to the 9th Bn. Seaforth Highlanders, a unit that does not appear on Pte. Murie's medal card, but which he may have served in for a time prior to transferring into the Machine Gun Corps (Motors), and thence to the Tank Corps.
Pte. 200257 David Murie, 'B' Bn. Tank Corps, was killed 23rd November 1917 and is commemorated on the Cambrai memorial. He originally served in the Royal Field Artillery (service no. 1093).
