Ivor Gurney's copy of 'War's Embers', published by Sidgwick and Jackson in May 1919. The inside cover is inscribed 'April 1925 / Ivor Gurney's markings'. The copy has pen annotations in Gurney's hand indicating where each poem was written. Gurney notes that 'The Day of Victory' was written in Gloucester on the 'Night after 'Vichy Day'' and that the poem 'Needs amplifying', and 'Passionate Earth' was also written at Gloucester.
